peaceful postpartum

peaceful postpartum looks like a sleeping baby next to mama

want a peaceful postpartum? bringing the new baby home can come with lots of things that don’t have a place yet. finding order in all of that stuff can be challenging.

peaceful postpartum looks like:

as a postpartum doula, i love to bring peace to chaos. it’s very calming to create beautiful spaces like a clean kitchen, a home-cooked meal, a hot cup of coffee in a favorite mug and a freshly made bed.

i love the idea of stations / baskets/ caddies for new moms in their favorite places. when feeding the baby, can you reach your favorite snacks and a full ice cold water bottle? are diapers and wipes easily accessible?

i enjoy making chicken noodle soup for the new family.  it’s warming, healing, and tastes like home.

i refresh flower arrangements removing anything dead and add clean water.

it’s so important to have some things in our homes that bring us peace in the midst of chaos especially with the addition of a new little family member.

you can create places of peace during postpartum and beyond.

i like to have a couple of places that remain clutter free, like the dining room table and my kitchen counters. it’s always a challenge for me!

these small touches make a big impact on peace during chaos.

places of peace in my home:

here are my favorite ways to find peace in the midst of chaos.

here is a list of my current favorite places of peace in a home filled with projects and tools and supplies……

(now,i had to go and create these places again while writing. i cleared the dining table. i cleared the kitchen counters. i wiped down the bathrooms.  it brought peace).

clear kitchen countertops. I even put my coffee pot away.

dining table dusted and filled with a centerpiece that is special to me.

the smell and feel of clean bathrooms from top to bottom and clutter-free of extra things.

my husband is traveling this week and i have been rearranging a little…my entry way now has plenty of room for guests to come inside. dog supplies and leashes were moved to the standing coat rack on the other side of the door opening and shoes moved to a mud mat below this coat rack.  this freed the front door to open wide.

i turned on a small lamp on the table beside my comfy chair. i lit the scented candle. i love lamplight and the scent of a candle burning. i grabbed my favorite cup for coffee and my Bible and ran to the place i created for reflection and reading.

other favorite things that provide peace include:

comfy and pretty pajamas

coffee table books with beautiful photography and antique cream pitchers placed in safe spots to prevent breakage from pets.

my Bible and favorite devotional books handy and photos of those i love hanging on the wall.

vintage aprons and tea cups

favorite movies

books

podcasts

pottery

living plants

this list is continuous and always ongoing.
